parents never want to have children when they are not in love, not expecting them, nor really even want them. both francis fitzgerald and juniper sullivan were good children, after highschool went to college, and grew up to live successful lives in their professions. frank is a writer for snl, while june is an interior designer. they came from well off families that could afford the nicer things in life, but no one was expecting for the two to have a child in the early winter of 1991. a son was born to the two, ezekiel fitzgerald, but the two were still in college so they gave him to frank's parents to watch. not even a year later, the couple were in the same position when their daughter, daphne eileen, graced the world on november 2, 1991. college life still was calling out to the two, so this time they let june's parents take care of her. the children did not live far from one another, instantly becoming friends, only later to find out that they were kin to one another. during the holidays were the only times their parents visited them, so they grew to be close as time progressed.

after years of doing her own thing, juniper decided she wanted to on the roll of being a mother to her children, and take the reigns in her life. the summer before daphne's seventh grade year, juni took the children down to key west to start her own business in interior designing. the trio lived with family already there until they were able to get on their feet. first time being in such a different atmosphere, daphne was anxious and nervous all at the same time. instead of running out and playing on the sunny beaches like many children were doing on their break, daphne stayed inside and became a lot closer with her mother than she thought. there were the times though that she would go on adventures with her brother to test the new place she was to call home. it wasn't so bad, and she would adjust to the weather. hopefully the people were as friendly as they seemed.

being in highschool was an adjustment to say the least. new students poured in and out every year and many of her peers had known another since they were in diapers. it was weird to walk through the walls of tegesta without having a person she had known that long aside from her brother. daphne didn't try to be outgoing or anything other than what she was. she was always more quiet and reserved, and people talking her or showing an interest made her nervous. it was one of the things people mercilessly teased her for back at her old school. maybe it was time for a fresh new start? she couldn't see herself doing it, but she was going to try. the most important thing even with new friends was her grades. daphne strived to be a straight a student.

life was getting to be easier now, a lot if you asked her. her mother had successfully started a business and was making a name for herself. not long after they moved in with her family down here did they move out. it was easy for her mother to find work, but now entering her senior year at tegesta things are starting to feel different. daphne is still unsure if she should pursue her dreams of becoming a dancer or do something more productive, in the eyes of her mother. not to mention her father decides that now he is passed his prime, he too would like to be a real parent to his children. who did he think he was? daphne's will have to take this all one step at a time.
